Deja Vu

It’s really quite surreal to find yourself in a position where something familiar which had happened to you in the past is again facing you. Déjà vu – whatever! Uhm… This one is quite but not entirely like it.

I met these two boys a couple of months ago and I found myself amused at how time quickly passed – one moment I was this ambitious kid with idealistic dreams and plans for himself. Then suddenly, I become this struggling young adult in his never-ending quest for independence, love, and stability. XD

I remember some thoughts running through my 12-year old immaturebrain when I was in 1st year high. As some of you may know, I studied high in the seminary. This “first time away from home” experience brought me some challenges and questions I never imagined myself facing and bothering me. First taste of reality - maybe… A lot of things had happened, which when I think of now, were quite too much for a vulnerable, lost, and lonely kid who thought himself of as a misfit, to handle - a kid who was trying everything just to be in a clique, desperate to feel some sense of belongingness, to be welcomed. Clearly, I was a sponge – absorbing anything which I thought was cool - imbibing them.

IT'S HARD TO BE ON THE OUTSIDE. Trust me.

It was as if life quickly removed the innocence in me. I learned a bunch of things little ones shouldn’t be aware of.

But through it all, I have no regrets even when things presented themselves earlier than they should have. These experiences armoured me with some valuable lessons - that of continuity in all things - with life, with dreams, and most importantly, with growing up. Though it was life’s bitter reality to endure the nightmares at first, it was however, those very same lessons that made it bearable.

As for those boys, I’m just extremely thrilled to have met and talked with them. I saw in their eyes and smile the very fragile soul which made me taste what life was and grow up unexpectedly.

Oh life… Parang kailan lang… *hums. Take care you two. :)

The Suicidal Gretel (The Prequel to “The Imaginary Journal of the Big Sleepy Wolf”)

… And they found a house made of chocolate chips and cookies! At the end of the story, both of them were murderers of an old accommodating lady who thought they were fattened turkeys for her dinner. But was Hansel aware that Gretel was suicidal?

If I were the Big Bad Wolf, I would rather eat Gretel than Little Red Riding Hood, though the latter is as equally stupid as the former. I was sleeping that time when she told her brother to scatter crumbs of their bread until none of it was left. Because I was dead asleep, the ravens told me that they had a feast and that Gretel was anorexic. Hansel was so desperate to get her home and decided to ask the "old witch" (who was their neighbor all along) for something to eat. The old lady after baking a fresh irrisistable batch of cookies, let them in and served them food. Because the old woman was suffering dementia and poor eyesight, she forgot that they were real persons and thought that they would make a decent meal. I saw it all, the way they killed the old woman, and how greedily they ate - especially Gretel who I thought was anorexic. The ravens were wrong after all. She was bulimic. Her initial plan was to die in the forest yet her brother saw a way out and she had to resort to her second plan: eat until she’s full, puke it all out and kill herself in the oven which did not happen because Hansel had already pushed the old lady in.

Why was Gretel planning to kill herself anyway? Little Red Riding Hood told the ravens told me that Gretel was desperate to answer her father’s question. Sleepy that I was, I missed what the question was while the ravens flew back to their nest and chatted some more.

So for a fresh start, i'm posting this article, as a gift man for you out there abroad.. .Sayod ko mang nahidlaw man kamo sa kabuhi sa uma.

I don't know the origin of this "kumposo" ,neither I knew the title, but I love to hear and sing it over and over again for it brings me back to where I came from. It is written in Kinaray-a but I know Akeanons understand this dialect. The experience of the song is so true to our kasimanwas in the outskirts of Aklan; and for sure some who might read this have the same experience, if not the whole of it but maybe at some point.

This kumposo still reflects a parcel of the life of a youth in the rural areas. Well, of course, that's how and why Kumposo was invented by our forefathers. It serves as an outlet or an expression of life. Kumposo is a generic name for the songs of Panayanons which mirrors and illustrates the struggle and happiness they have, especially life in the rural areas. This genre already evolved into more and complex form and the above song is already way ahead from the old school kumposos.

I find it interesting to post in this blog because it might remind our kasimanwas abroad of the life they left her Aklan or may maybe the happiness we had shared sa kabaryohan….

THE DIFFERENCE

The difference between the poor countries and the rich
ones is not the age of the country:

Examples are countries like India & Egypt,

that are more than 2000 years old, but are poor.

On the other hand, Canada,Australia, & New Zealand,
that 150 years ago were virtually unnoticed,

today are developed countries, and are rich.

The difference between poor & rich countries does not
reside in the available natural resources.

Japan has a limited territory, 80% mountainous,
inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising,
but it is the second largest world economy.

The country is like animmense floating factory, importing

raw materials from thewhole world and exporting

manufactured products.

Another example isSwitzerland, which does not plant
cocoa but has the best chocolate in the world. In its little
territory they raise animals and plant the soilduring 4
months per year. Not
only that, they produce dairy products
of the best quality!

It is a small country that has an image of security, order &

strong labor force, whichmade it the world's strongest,

safest place.

Executives from rich countries who communicate with
their counterparts in poor countries
show that there is no significant intellectual difference.

Race or skin color are also not important: immigrants
labeled lazy because of their
countries of origin are the
productive power in many richer European countries.

What is the difference then?

The difference is the attitude of the people,

influenced along the years by education, culture,

& flawed tradition.

On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich &
developed countries, we find that the great majority
follow the following principles in their lives:

1. Ethics as a basic principle.
2. Integrity.
3. Responsibility.
4. Respect to the laws & rules.
5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.
6. Work loving.
7. Strive for savings & investment.
8. Will of super action.
9. Punctuality.
10. and of course .... Discipline.

In poor countries, only a minority follow these basic
principles in their daily life..

The Philippines is not poor because we lack natural
resources or because nature was
cruel to us. In fact, we are supposedly rich in
natural resources.

We are poor because we lack the correct attitude.
We lack the will to comply with and teach these functional
principles of rich & developed societies.

If you do not forward this message

Your pet will not die, you will not be fired, you will not

have bad luck for sevenyears, and also, you will not get

sick or go hungry.

But those may happen because of your lack of
discipline & laziness

your love for intrigue and politics,

Ten Thousand Shitty Should Haves!

I’m ok… How many times do I have to tell somebody I am? People just won’t listen. They tell me I should have done this, or that, or whatever shitty tricks they have up on their sleeves. Sometimes, I would just want to crush them like a bug. I can’t and that’s the problem. Maybe it’s my fault not to submit to conformity. For some reason, being human entails drifting away with the system.

The difficult thing is, I’m too unique to fit in. People don’t realize that civilization was born out of a mitochondrion who was not satisfied with how things were. I am too small to infect a well-defended structure. Yet if I get too popular, I would be accused of giving birth to a structure that everyone would want to conform to. That’s why, I keep on saying I’m ok, and people don’t have to bother if my situation is the most convenient path or not. While it is true that I can not please everyone, I still maintain that it is out of the question. What matters is, I am quite happy with the way I think and feel.

The bottom line is, as much as I reserve judgment on the others’ personhood, it is also my right to keep them out of my fence. I don’t want to imply that I am not satisfied with how things are going in life. On the contrary, I am pleased with both the way things are running and the way I treat my own. Is it not a win-win situation?

This blog has been stagnant for the past months – months, which I thought, were filled with celestially happy moments but turned out to be the opposite.
Anyway, I never learn. Owel. What hurts the most was how some minute act of honesty, must’ve slipped out of someone’s head. Haaaay. Friends wouldn’t in millennia go through eras of pretension – trying to make up stories using other people’s names just to clear themselves. How inhuman! If that’s your idea of friendship, then you with hell’s consent deserve each other. J
I could not swallow and digest how you could enjoy watching other people do your dirty laundry. Gosh! And oh my goodness! How pathetic of you to master the art of treachery just to make me not go in the city we all dreamt of. Concerned or vile? Owel. “Karma” was included in the English dictionary for some reasons, which I know you will realize on your own someday. I’ll go wherever I want to go. Good luck on that! Hahaha. Btw, yeah! This is me keeping secrets, still ticking, patient to carry some nuisance bomb for your sake. Haven’t you realized that yet?

Levels of the intellect are not merely measured by grades but by the accomplishments Achieved...

Though at 21 years of age, I am going to share the knowledge I have about certain things...I am not an expert but I am here to offer what I have in my baggage...I am just hoping that you may acquire knowledge even in its simplest way possible...

2009 Nike Human Race goes the extra mile
Get trained by Nike’s running clinics and run with the rest of the world for a cause

19 October 2009 – For the second year in a row, Nike will allow Filipino runners to run with the rest of the world with the 2009 Nike+ Human Race 10k. Set this coming October 24, 2009, Filipino runners can run simultaneously with the rest of the world for one day and celebrate their love for the sport. The 2009 race is set to be bigger and better as Nike partners with the annual Subic International Marathon.

Run for a Cause

This year’s run is elevated to a greater cause as it partners with Gawad Kalinga’s ‘Walang Iwanan’ program that will provide relief and clean-up work for the nine GK sites ravaged by typhoon Ketsana. Nike Philippines will be donating 10 PHP for every kilometer ran by a Nike+ Sportband user who joins the Nike+ Human Race Ambassadors Challenge at NikeRunning.com. On October 24, every finisher of the Nike+ Human Race 10K in the Subic International Marathon will automatically convert their run to a PHP 100 donation.

“By bringing the 2009 Nike+ Human Race 10k, we provide a venue for Filipino runners to pit themselves against runners from all over the globe and, at the same time, run for a greater cause by making every kilometer count for the victims of typhoon Ketsana,” says Mae Dichupa, Nike Philippines Marketing Manager. “Running is a sport that brings about a lot of health benefits. Through Nike’s partnership with Gawad Kalinga, we add another benefit to running by making every run meaningful, uniting every Filipino runner to do their share as the nation continues to rebuild itself after the calamity” adds Dichupa.

The 2009 Nike+ Human Race

Globally, Nike is hosting runs in more than 30 cities around the globe, making it the world’s biggest run. However, with the innovation of NikePlus.com and the Nike+ Sportband, every pavement can become a race course on October 24 as runners who won’t be able to make it physically to the actual course can still participate by logging their run, making the Nike+ Human Race open to anyone, anywhere.

A physical Nike+ Human Race will be staged on October 24 at 4PM as Nike sponsors the 10K leg of the Subic International Marathon. Successful finishers will be given the Nike Finisher’s Band to certify their accomplishment of running with the world. Nike Running Training Clinics

I see life as it is… Simple… I don’t really create choices that complicate my decision. More importantly, life does not give me options which would make anything difficult for me. I am not saying that life is like an easy-go-lucky kind of thing. I don’t have that luxury. Most people even see and think that my situation is difficult. What they don’t know is that normality is just a convention. They don’t even understand what it is. I am different and for what it’s worth, I’m thankful for what and who I am.

Its been awhile that i haven’t heard anything about this so-called organization of the Matthians Legacy. Why did I say this? Maybe because of curiousity, anticipation or conviction. As days went by, years had passed, and moments fade away…I realized that i had forgotten something, "something" that could lead me to explore in the arena of intellectuals. Life in perse has nothing to do with this pronouncement; for the reason that, it is all about wandering the aesthetical structure of Matthians Legacy.

Why Matthians? For a very simple reason, this ‘fraternity’ has build up a strong introduction of friendship beyond our human formation. Why Matthians? Practically speaking, we are much better than the worsts inside the four corner walls of formation house. Worst, in a philosophical sense that, we are the few good men whose experiences and charateristics cannot be taken for granted. Why….?

all my life, truth and reality was deprived from me…..

i was kept in a four cornered world believing that all situations i see and hear are being delivered the way they were…..

i am not who i am…..

I Must Exist First

In my life now , I always find time to contemplate… meditate….make journals about my thoughts and emotions, philosophies etc…. for the reason that I realize without these activities, my existence as a man is useless. I have to examine my life to make it ‘worth living’.

Through these reflections, I have shown to myself that I am really living. That I am a man constructing my own roads and striving to finish it to become a true man.

Rene Descartes and Plato’s philosophies about the mind created a great impact in my life and they still continuing influencing me. But existentialists just like Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Heidegger show me a new perspectives towards life. They make my life now more interesting and worthliving. They say, I must ‘think in existence’…. that I should face the life with my own choices not by others. In other words, live individually.

My existence is the most important element in my journey, this is my life and I don’t want to be covered by my ideology, which is merely an experiment of thought. I exist because of my existential moment of choices and actions not by my pure thoughts or ideas. I could not exist if I only think and think. I must think and live it. Think in existence inorder to exist.

Finding the ‘Truth’ is the foundation of philosophy and I’ve found the most important way in finding it. I can find it through Existentialism. I decided that I must find it personally not as a whole because the ‘Truth’ in reality is only personal interpretations and it couldn’t be in universal.

The ‘Truth’ that you are finding is different from mine. I am on my way now in knowing it, and it can be found within me, and after finding it, I want to know what it means to my Existence.

Examining my life is not only making it worth living but also knowing what it means to my life.

I know to think individually in this life has a negative aspects because I believe that making this life more meaningful is to harmonize with other people… I’m not living alone…. But I am still an existentialist. I am making this life for myself not for the entire universe.

I am going to live my life in my own choices and decisions.. I am committed to this philosophy. I have to prove to myself first that I am not a thinking thing that thinks but a thinking thing that lives.

I have to prove to myself that I really exist before sharing it hundred percent to others. I don’t want to be isolated in this world but I must have a proof first that I am a true man.. that I truly exist.. that I have choices.. that I can build my own roads… that I am truly living.

I have to create or discover my own identity… I must exist first.
I must have my life first before sharing it to other people.
